Odisha: Herd of elephants stranded on Mahanadi river bank

Banki: A herd of 11 elephants was stranded on the banks of Mahanadi river near Bhagipur under Dampada Forest Range in Banki area of Odisha’s Cuttack district, today.

The elephants were moving towards Chandaka Forest from Athagarh and got stranded while they were searching for food. They could not cross the river due to strong current in the waterbody.

A team of 15 members from Dampada Forest Range have reached the spot and were trying to rescue the pachyderms.
