Odisha: Here’re details of establishments exempted from COVID-19 lockdown

Bhubaneswar: Amid the growing COVID-19 scare across the country, the Odisha government today announced a week long lockdown in five districts and eight towns of the State beginning from 7 am on March 22, 2020. Police Commissioner, Collector, ADM, CDM & PHO, DCP, Sub Collector, Tahasildar, BDO, Municipal Commissioner and Executive Officer of Urban Local Bodies have been authorized to take necessary actions for enforcement of the lockdown.

During the lockdown any person found violating the containment measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under section 188 of Indian Penal Code.

Here’s a list of services and offices which will be exempted from the lockdown:

However, the following establishments providing essential services shall be excluded from the above restrictions: –

a) Offices charged with law and order and magisterial duties such as Collector, Sub Collector, Tahsil, Block.

b) Police, Health, Urban local bodies and Fire services are also exempted from the lockdown

c) Rail, Air and Inter-city Bus Transport will continue as usual. However, the local administration will regulate eateries in the premises of these transport service providers

d) Electricity, Water and Municipal Services

e) Bank/ATM

f) Print and Electronic Media,social media

g) Telecom & Internet Services including IT&ITeS

h) Postal services

i) Supply chain and related transportation

j) e-Commerce (delivery) of all essential goods including food, pharmaceutical and medical equipment

k) Food, Groceries, Milk, Bread, Fruit, Vegetable, Meat, Fish and their transportation related activities and warehousing

l) Take away/ home delivery restaurants

m) Hospitals, chemist stores and pptical stores. Pharmaceuticals manufacturing and their transportation related activities.

n) Petrol pumps, LPG gas, oil agencies, their godown and their transportation related activities.

o) Production and manufacturing units which require continuous process may continue to function, after obtaining required permission from the collector

p) Manufacturing units engaged in production of essential commodities

This apart, private establishments linked to the efforts for containment of COVID-19 will remain open.

The government said any congregation of more than seven persons shall be prohibited in public places.
