Odisha: Here’s status of Hirakud dam & water flow in Mahanadi

Bhubaneswar: The water level is falling at Hirakud dam on Friday after discharging floodwater yesterday.

Currently, the water level at the reservoir stands at 620.87 ft against storage capacity of 630 ft by 6.00 am on August 16, a day after opening 20 sluice gates to release excess floodwater.

The average inflow of water at Hirakud dam is 1,51,550 cusec and outflow 3,28,295 cusec on Friday, informed the Water Resources Department on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the water flow is falling and rising at various points in Mahanadi River following release of floodwater from Hirakud dam.

The water flow is registered 43,400 cusec (falling) at Belgaon (Tel River), 1,26,216 cusec (falling) at Patharla (Tel River), 4,78,000 cusec (rising) at Khairmal (Mahanadi River), 2,56,750 cusec (falling) at Barmul (Mahanadi River) and 4,74,624 cusec (falling) at Mundali (Mahanadi River) by 6.00 am today, the department said on the microblogging site.
