Odisha: High Court to remain closed from May 21 for summer vacation

Cuttack: Orissa High Court will remain closed from May 21 till June 17 for summer vacation. The court proceedings will resume from June 18.

As per a notification released by the High Court Registrar on Wednesday, the holiday bench of high court will hear the cases at 11.00 am on May 23, 30, June 6 and 12 during one-month holiday.

While the high court holiday bench of Justice BR Sarangi and Justice DP Choudhury will hear the cases on May 23, hearing of cases will be made by the holiday benches comprising of Justice BR Sarangi, Justice SK Sahoo and Justice KR Mohapatra on May 30, Justice Biswajit Mohanty and Justice SK Sahoo on June 6 and Justice SC Parija and Justice AK Rath on June 12.

However, the high court office will remain closed on May 27, June 3, 9, 10, 14, 15 and 16. The office will remain opened from 11.00 am till 3.00 pm during working days.

The new cases can be filed between 11.00 am till 12.00 pm during working days.

However, the notification made it clear that the cases, which are subjudice, cannot be listed without permission of the senior holiday bench judges.

The holiday bench along with special bench will hear the pleas filed by the accused lodged in jail over five years.

The special bench of Justice SK Sahoo and Justice KR Mohapatra will hear the criminal petitions on May 23, Justice SK Sahoo and Justice DP Choudhury on May 25 and Justice Biswajit Mohanty and Justice Sk Sahoo on June 4, the notification said.
