Odisha: Hindol MLA Simarani Nayak joins BJP after quitting BJD

Bhubaneswar: Hindol legislator Simarani Nayak today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a day after resigning from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD). She was earlier denied a ticket by BJD to contest from this Assembly constituency segment in the upcoming General Elections 2024.

Hindol MLA joined the saffron camp along with hundreds of her supporters and in the presence of state BJP unit president Manmohan Samal and several other senior leaders of the party.

“I worked for the BJD for around ten years, but my efforts were weighed in terms of money. I have no money, no mines, and no industry. Hence, I was not given a ticket,” the two-time MLA said.

Hindol NAC chairman Gobinda Chandra Behera and block chairman Barun Kumar Sara are among the prominent persons who joined the saffron camp.

Worth mentioning, BJD has fielded Mahesh Sahu as its MLA candidate from Hindol.
