Odisha: Hirakud dam opens 3 more gates

Sambalpur: In view of the increasing inflow of water into the Hirakud reservoir following incessant rains in the upper catchment of Mahanadi river, the dam authorities today opened three more gates to release the floodwater.

Currently, floodwater is being discharged through total eight gates. The average inflow was 2,16,238 cusec per second and outflow was 1,02,885 cusec by 6 AM. The water level of the reservoir stood at 627.85 ft as against its total capacity of 630 ft.

Meanwhile, the status of the Rengali reservoir stands at 122.74m rising against the total level of 123.50m.
