Odisha: Hotel cook allegedly hacked to death in State Capital; family demands probe

Bhubaneswar: A middle-aged man working as a cook in a hotel located in front of Nandankanan zoo on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar was allegedly hacked to death. His family today demanded a probe.

The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Santosh Sahu. He had been working in a roadside eatery named ‘Babul Hotel’. Santosh had been working as a cook for around the last eight years.

According to a source, the hotel owner Babuli Majhi previously had a brawl over an issue not known. Santosh’s wife was outside Bhubaneswar when the man died. He had talked to the woman over a mobile phone and said that he had to return to his native place Anandapur yesterday. She was informed by the hotel owner today morning at around 9.00 am that the victim’s health condition was unwell.

After reaching Bhubaneswar, Santosh’s wife went to the Capital Hospital in Unit-6 locality to see the man dead with several injuries on his body. She later lodged an FIR with the Nandankanan police.

Police have registered a case in this connection and initiated a probe, which is underway.

The exact reason behind the death of Santosh has not been ascertained yet.
