Odisha: House Surgeon found dead under mysterious circumstances at Baripada medical college

Bhubaneswar: A final year MBBS student (House Surgeon) of Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital at Odisha’s Baripada town was found dead under mysterious circumstances today.

The deceased has been identified as Sachin Kumar Sahoo of Keonjhar.

Sachin went to his hostel room after completing his duty hours at the hospital at around 3 pm in the afternoon. However, he did not come out of his room till evening, sources said.

Sachin’s friends also did not receive any reply when they knocked on the door of his hostel room. Later, they broke open Sachin’s room window and found him hanging from the ceiling fan, sources added.

Sachin was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The authorities of the medical college have informed the incident to the deceased’s family members.

“We have initiated a probe into the incident. The House Surgeon might have died by suicide. We are trying to find out why he took this extreme step,” said Baripada Sadar police IIC Madhumita Mohanty.
