Odisha: I-T raids underway for 5th day at locations linked to coal trader Ghanshyam Dalmia

Rourkela: Simultaneous raids by Income Tax (I-T) sleuths continued for the fifth day today at different places associated with coal trader-turned-industrialist Ghanshyam Dalmia in and outside Sundargarh. The movable and immovable assets unraveled can be ascertained only after the raids are over.

According to a private source, several important documents and huge cash have been seized so far. The searches are still underway at as many as 12 locations in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal.

Ten separate teams comprising more than a hundred I-T sleuths started the simultaneous raids on January 18 at different locations as Ghanshyam aka Bunty Dalmia allegedly evaded a huge amount of tax.

I-T teams had begun searches early in the morning, which were conducted over tax evasion, including the houses, business establishments, and offices of Ghanshyam, his two brothers Bablu and Jogesh in Rourkela, Sundargarh town and Barpali in Odisha and Raigarh, Raipur, and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.

Ghanshyam Dalmia has business establishments in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Mumbai, and Madhya Pradesh. The businessman has hotels and industries along with coal trading, the source expressed.
