Odisha is first in bauxite, alumina, aluminium production and will be first in downstream production as well: Dr TK Chand

Bhubaneswar: On the second day of Make in Odisha conclave, metal, downstream and ancillary industry as a sectoral session has been conducted with more than 10 top industry leaders addressing a huge gathering of industry captains, policymakers, investors and many more. The session was addressed by Minister of Industries, Energy and MSME Pratap Kesari Dev, who invited investors to invest in downstream units in Odisha.

Principal Secretary Industry Hemant Sharma explained elaborately why investors should invest in downstream industries in Odisha. Sharma also flagged off the focus of government on hubs, clusters and parks. He mentioned about Angul Aluminium Park and Vedanta Aluminium Park and called upon MSMEs to avail the opportunities.

In this connection, Minister and Principal Secretary were presented the book on Aluminium-The future Metal authored by Dr TK Chand.

Both Minister and Principal Secretary, Industries complimented Dr Chand for creating awareness about aluminium applications and encouraging MSMEs and startups for setting up industries in aluminium parks.

Dr Chand in his address told that Odisha is first in Bauxite, first in Alumina and first in Aluminium production and it will soon be first in downstream aluminium products. He also congratulated state government for success in getting more than Rs 7 lakh crore investment on the first day of the conclave. He invited investors, who want to setup export oriented and hi-tech units to invest in Jharsuguda Aluminium Park. While underscoring Angul Aluminium Park and Jharsuguda Aluminium Parks are suitable for new investors in manufacturing cables, extrusion items, Aluminium powder, foil, packaging material etc.

It may be mentioned here that while in Nalco as CMD Dr Chand had promoted setting up of Nalco Angul Aluminium Park and now in Vedanta as President he is front driving Vedanta World Class Aluminium Park at Jharsuguda.

Amongst other speakers, CMD Gupta Power M K Gupta complimented Vedanta and its Chairman Anil Agrawal and his team for world-class Alumina Park at Jharsuguda and invited investors to invest in the Park. Dr Chand received a round of applause during his presentation on Aluminium Park.
