Odisha is keen to promote Table Tennis: Naveen Patnaik

Cuttack: Odisha government is keen to promote Table Tennis (TT), among other sports, to groom the budding players in the state, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.

“The state govt, among other sports, is keen to promote Table Tennis in the state. To start with, we will provide tables and equipment for TT to 200 locations. Regular coaching programmes with accredited TT coaches will be started at important district level centres to tap potential of young players in Table Tennis,” Patnaik said while addressing the finals of the 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack.

The CM further adds: “Odisha is fast emerging as a hub of international sporting events in India. After successful hosting of several international events including this one, we are poised to host many more sporting events in the coming days.”

Notably, Indian paddlers made most of the ‘home advantage and grabbed all the gold medals — seven to be precise — in the Championships which began on July 17 concluded today (July 22).
