Odisha is transforming into a major manufacturing hub in Eastern India: Chief Minister

Bhubaneswar: Transformations are being witnessed in social and physical infrastructures in the process of Odisha’s development. The State is gradually becoming a major manufacturing hub in Eastern India, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said today while addressing a huge gathering at Chandikhol in Jajpur district.

Women self-help groups (WSHGs) under the ambitious Mission Shakti initiative are coming forward to become entrepreneurs. Odisha has now become the second-highest state in the country in terms of investments. Development has become a new identity of the State. Lots of development works have been done in the past days and many more are to be done in the future, the CM stated.

Besides, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a new direction for India and he is taking the country on an accelerated drive to make it an economic powerhouse. India is presently the fifth largest economy marching forward to be the No-3 in a few years, the CM expressed in his address to the public.

“It is a matter of pleasure that the Prime Minister today inaugurated several projects in Odisha, such as Chandikhol-Paradip NH and a few other NH expansions, Desalination Plant, LPG terminal, gas pipeline, including the introduction of train services etc. I thank the Hon’ble Prime Minister for his focus on the development of Odisha. I seek the support of the Hon’ble Prime Minister in the endeavor of 4.5 crore people of Odisha,” the CM further said.

Notably, the Chief Minister also expressed his deepest tributes to the legendary statesman Biju Patnaik for his significant contributions to the development of the State. March 5 being the latter’s birthday, the CM termed him as a ‘visionary leader’. In 1990, Biju Patnaik dreamt of making Kalinganagar an industrial hub of Odisha, which has now become the steel hub of India, the CM added.
