Odisha issues study tour guidelines for schools

Bhubaneswar: Following directive by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Odisha government issued guidelines for the schools taking the students on study tour.

The School & Mass Education (S&ME) department issued the guidelines setting the rules for the teachers and schools for safety of the students, who are going on study-tour.

As the per the guidelines, the school authorities will be responsible if any untoward incident happens with any student during study tour. They will decide which place to visit as per the students’ requirement and the syllabus. The school will provide identity card to the students for the study tour. A database will be prepared about detailed information of the students going on study tour. The students’ parents name, address, mobile number, contact number and email will be mentioned in the database. A copy of the details will also be given to the student.

The students need to get permission from their parents for the study tour. It will be mandatory that a senior teacher will accompany the students for the study tour. An experienced woman teacher will visit with the girl students.

Similarly, the permission is required from the collector or the officer in that rank if the school will take the students on study tour to the places like dam, power plant and sea beach.

A local tour operator having knowledge about that area is must if the number of students is more than 10. The detailed information about the bus driver and conductor is mandatory for the schools. The school authorities will have to verify the documents of the bus including the license to ensure safety of the students.

The S&ME department has asked the schools to strictly follow the guidelines before taking the students on study tour to any place.
