Baripada: Police detained the Principal and a lecturer of a private ITI College under Kuliana police station area in Mayurbhanj district after some students alleged misbehaviour and attack by the Principal's brother following a goof-up in form fill-up process.

Sources said the college authorities had distributed wrong admit cards to students of Electrical and Fitter trades before their examination. Some students of Electrical trade had received admit cards of Fitter trade and vice versa.

When the concerned students reported the matter to the college authorities, the latter asked the students to appear in the examination with the wrong admit cards, instead of solving the issue.

Irate over this, some students resorted to a protest in front of the college. Thereafter, the younger brother of Principal Trilochan Barik went to the spot and allegedly beat up the agitating students. Moreover, he allegedly asked the students to vacate the hostel.

With no option left, the students walked miles to the district Collector's office in wee hours today and appraised him of the entire episode. The students also alleged undue interference by the the Principal's brother in most of college matters, despite not being an employee of the institute. Later, they lodged a written complaint with Kuliana police demanding action against both the Principal and his younger brother.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the police detained the Principal and lecturer Satyaban Giri. Meanwhile, the Principal's younger brother has absconded after the incident.
