Odisha jail hospitals included under ‘Niramaya’

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today approved inclusion of jail hospitals under the Niramaya Scheme. The Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd (OSMCL) informed the DIG of Prison (HQ) in this regard.

The OSMCL has already created user credentials for 32 jail headquarter hospitals in e-Niramaya software.

The District HQ jail has been asked to place the indent to the concerned District Drug Warehouse of OSMCL on a quarterly basis. As per the availability of drugs and consumables, the district jail hospitals may collect the drugs and consumables from the concerned district warehouse of OSMCL, the letter added.

In another major decision, the Home Department increased the cost of dietary charges for each prisoner from Rs 64 to Rs 80 per day. The dietary charge has been enhanced keeping in view the calorie content of 2816.74 kcal as recommended by the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad.
