Odisha JE deaths: Vaccination to begin in Malkangiri after three-day survey

The district administration of Odisha’s Malkangiri today decided to undertake vaccination drive against Japanese Encephalitis (JE) after conducting a three-day door-to-door survey.

The decision for undertaking a vaccination drive against the killer vector-borne disease was taken at a review meeting chaired by the Collector here today.

Children in the 1-15 age group will be immediately vaccinated after the end of a three-day door-to-door survey on November 20, 21, & 22, the Collector informed.

Teachers, Anganwadi workers and Accredited social health activists (ASHAs) will be engaged in the immunization programme which will begin at 8 AM to end at 3 PM, he added.

Notably, the combined death toll due to JE and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the district today rose to 108 in the last 66 days with two children succumbing to the disease at the district headquarters hospital here.
