The court also asked the I.O. to appear before the court in person during its next hearing on Monday.

The directive of the court came in response to a writ petition filed by Ratna Kumari, wife of Dr N Prabhakar Babu, director of Seven Hills Hospital in Vishakhapatnam who was arrested by a special team of Commissionerate Police on June 17.

The team will bring Dr Babu to Cuttack following his discharge from a private hospital in Vishakhapatnam, where he was admitted after he reportedly fell ill as soon as he was arrested.

It may be recalled that the modus operandi of the racket came to light when the police on June 1 took up the case of Namita Nayak, who had sold her kidney to Mohan Chandra Lenka of Bhubaneswar for Rs 10 lakh.

In course of investigation, police came to know that all the documents were forged as the donor and the recipient were unrelated.

The kidney transplant was performed at the Seven Hills Hospital on April 3.
