Odisha: Lahunipara BDO hurt as car overturns on Gurundia-Kuchinda road

Bhubaneswar: Lahunipara Block Development Officer (BDO) reportedly sustained injuries when his car met with an accident on Gurundia-Kuchinda road in Sundargarh district of Odisha yesterday.

The mishap took place when BDO Anurag Mishra was on his way to native Sonepur from Lahunipara in Sundargarh district yesterday evening.

Mishra had taken charge as Lahunipara BDO a few days ago. He had accompanied a team from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to various programmes at Lahunipara yesterday before travelling to Sonepur, sources said.

“Mishra was informed about certain emergencies in his family yesterday evening. He was travelling on Gurundia-Kuchinda road to reach Sonepur. His car skidded off the road and overturned before falling into a roadside pit when he was negotiating with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction,” said a source.

Locals rescued Mishra and rushed him to a nearby hospital. “The BDO sustained minor injuries in the mishap. He was discharged from the hospital after first aid,” added the source.

On being informed, Gurundia police reached the spot and seized the car before launching a probe into the incident.
