Odisha: Landmine recovered during combing operation, defused

Bonai: CRPF Jawans today recovered a landmine during a combing operation in a forest under K Balang police limits in Bonai sub-division of Sundargarh district.

Sources said the security personnel, while carrying out a combing operation, spotted a landmine weighing around 15 kg under a tree and immediately called up a bomb disposal squad. The bomb squad team reached the spot and defused the landmine.

It is suspected that the landmine might have been planted by Maoists in the region.

Reportedly, the red rebels are actively operating in Langalkata, Relhatu and Jhirpani areas for the last couple of days strengthening their base in areas bordering Jharkhand.

Meanwhile, combining operation has been intensified in the area following the incident.
