Cuttack: Intensifying ongoing cease work strike over police atrocity, the agitating lawyers locked up main gate of Orissa High Court here today.
The protestors barred the judges from entering the court premises in the morning.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court had asked the agitating lawyers to end the strike and join their duty soon in order to help people getting access to justice.
Hearing a PIL in this regard, the apex court directed the Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Dr RP Sharma to transfer the investigation to Crime Branch Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Notably, the lawyers are on the strike demanding arrest of the cops involved in attack on advocate Debi Prasad Patnaik on August 28.
Taking action against the erring cops, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh suspended two Constables and a Havildar in connection with the attack on the lawyer.
The DCP suspended Constables BK Samal and UK Bhuyan and Havildar PK Behera for ‘police excesses’.
