Odisha leads in country with highest COVID-19 tests per million population

Bhubaneswar:  In yet another milestone  achievement, Odisha has become the number one state in the country in conducting COVID-19 tests per million population in a single day. Currently, the state is conducting more than 50,000 tests per day.

As per testing data of August 16, Odisha is leading the country with 1096 single-day tests per million among the large states followed by Andhra Pradesh (920), Karnataka (915) and Gujarat (818).

 The national average in terms of  the per-day COVID-19 test stood at 542 on August 16.  On the day, Odisha was in Number-5 position with 50,421 tests conducted in a single day.

The testing rate in Odisha is double than the national average and ahead of states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Kerala. In the coming weeks, the state government intends to further ramp up the testing in phased manner.

It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha today achieved another milestone of conducting over 10 lakh tests with 50,525 samples tested in the last 24 hours. With this, the state’s cumulative test  stands at 10,09,454.
