Odisha legislator donates entire MLALAD fund to fight COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Odisha, BJD legislator Pranab Prakash Das has donated entire funds under MLALAD to fight the deadly virus in his constituency.

The MLA from Jajpur Assembly Constituency donated one-year fund to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) terming life of his constituency people as ‘precious’.

Taking to social microblogging site Twitter, Das posted:

Recently, Das has been appointed as the Organisational Secretary of the ruling Biju Janata Dal.

Worth mentioning, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is the first to initiate step by donating his three-month salary to the CMRF to tackle the highly infectious disease in the state.

Later, Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro and several ministers of Naveen’s cabinet donated their three-month salaries to join the initiative to combat COVID-19.

Government Chief Whip Pramila Mallick, other legislators including Atanu Sabyasachi, Prashant Jagdeb, Sushant Rout, Debi Prasad Mishra, Bhagirtahi Sethi, Sashibhusan Behera are among others who donated their salaries to deal with the pandemic situation arising out of coronavirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, Odisha Congress president Niranjan Patnaik has decided to donate his one-month pension to the CMRF to tackle the crisis.
