Odisha likely to experience intense cold from Jan 5

Bhubaneswar: Cold wave is likely to intensify across Odisha from January 5. The mercury is likely to be dropped below 10 degree Celsius in interior parts of the state.

The minimum temperature in the coastal parts of Odisha is likely to be between 10 degree Celsius and 13 degree Celsius. The weather will remain dry in the upcoming days. As the cold wave is blowing from north-east direction and Sikkim at speed of 25 kmph, Odisha will come under intense cold wave in the next two-three days, said Bhubaneswar MeT Director Sarat Chandra Sahoo.

Phulbani was coldest place in Odisha last night with the minimum temperature 7 degree Celsius. While Daringbadi recorded 8 degree Celsius, the minimum temperature in Sundergarh was 9 degree Celsius, Hirakud 9.7 degree Celsius, Keonjhar 10.3 degree Celsius, Angul 11 degree Celsius, Bhawanipatna and Jharsuguda 11.5 degree Celsius, Baripada 11.6 degree Celsius, Balasore 11.9 degree Celsius, Sambalpur 12.2 degree Celsius, Dhenkanal 12.5 degree Celsius, Balangir and Cuttack 13 degree Celsius.

Similarly, Talcher recorded 13.4 degree Celsius, Koraput 13.5 degree Celsius, Sonepur 13.6 degree Celsius and Bhubaneswar 14.1 degree Celsius.
