Bhubaneswar: Noted litterateur Padma Shri Rajat Kar passed away today evening while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here. He was 88.

He complained of chest pain at around 5 pm. Family members rushed him to the private hospital in Bhubaneswar where doctor declared his dead.

Son Ranjit Kar informed the litterateur died of heart attack at the hospital.

Kar was a household name for his lively commentary of the World famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannatha on TV channels and radio.
