Odisha: Maa Biraja Ratha Jatra from Oct 17, servitors to undergo Covid test

Jajpur: Servitors who will be engaged in ensuing Ratha Jatra of Goddess Maa Biraja in Jajpur district will undergo the Covid test mandatorily. A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting under chairmanship of Jajpur District Collector Chakravarti Singh Rathore today.

Rathore asked officials to prepare a list of servitors by Tuesday noon. Along with the servitors, police personnel who will be deployed during the Ratha Jatra will undergo Covid test thrice. Special identity cards will be issued to servitors and police personnel during the Biraja Ratha Jatra.

It was also decided during the meeting that Section 144 will be imposed on the premises of the temple during the Ratha Jatra of Goddess Biraja from October 17 to 24. Shops around the temple will remain closed during the nine –day chariot festival. Also, devotees will not be allowed in the temple for ‘Pada Darshan’ of the Goddess.

The chariot pulling will be conducted in between 3.30 PM and 6.30 PM, said an official who was present during the meeting.
