Odisha makes 14-day quarantine mandatory for Kumbh returnees

Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Odisha today made it mandatory for Kumbh Mela returnees to spend a 14-day quarantine after their return.

The SRC directed District Collectors and Municipal Commissioners to ensure people of the State, who return from Kumbh Mela complete a 14-day quarantine at home or in Cluster TMCs.

He further stated the list of persons, who registered themselves with the Uttarakhand State Government for participating in Kumbh Mela, has been shared with the Collectors and the Municipal Commissioners.

The SRC directed Collectors and Municipal Commissioners to contact the persons from Odisha who attended the Kumbh Mela and find out their location and travel plan.

The Kumbh attendees from Odisha will undergo RTPCR test before boarding train and flight to the State.

“All such persons must be personally tracked, their health condition monitored. They must be compulsorily RTPCR tested,” the SRC told the Collectors and the Municipal Commissioners.

If any Kumbh returnee develops Covid like symptoms, the concerned person should be immediately attended to. ASHA and Anganwadi Workers will visit the symptomatic Kumb returnees regularly at home, CTMCs and monitor their health conditions.

Also, the SRC requested Kumbh returnees to voluntarily self-isolate themselves and report to BDO/ Municipal/ NAC officers/ PHC/ CHC concerned about their condition.

Collectors and Municipal Commissioners were directed to report to the Health Department and the SRC office on a daily basis.
