Odisha: Man attacks 3 of in-laws’ family; 1 dead, 2 critical

Balasore: A man made a murderous attack on three members of his in-laws’ family killing one of them at Kusuda village under Kamarda police station in Balasore district today.

However, the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.

Sources said one Jaga Mahuri, son of Debu Mahuri of Patharakata village under Bhograi police limits, turned up at his in-laws’ house at Kusuda village around this noon. All of a sudden, he picked up a sharp weapon and attacked his mother-in-law Gouribala Mahuri. When the woman’s husband Susanta tried to save her, the accused hacked him on his neck. He also attacked his sister-in-law Susmita.

Hearing their screams, when few locals reached the spot, Jaga ran away in a bid to escape. However, the villagers chased the accused and later detained him at a farm land.

Meanwhile, all three victims were admitted to GK Bhattar Community Health Centre (CHC). However, Susanta was declared dead by doctors at the hospital. Condition of two others is stated to be critical.

On receiving information, Kamarda police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
