Odisha: Man attempts to kill wife suspecting her fidelity

Baripada: Suspecting fidelity, a man attempted to kill his 25-year-old wife while she was asleep at Sirasahi village under Bangiriposi police limits in Mayurbhanj district last night.

However, the woman, who sustained critical injures in the attack, has been admitted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital here while the accused husband is absconding after the incident.

Sources said the accused identified as Lalmohan Murmu used to fight with his wife suspecting her fidelity. Two days ago, Lalmohan had quarreled with his wife as she visited a Mela with her cousin brother-in-law.

At around 3AM yesterday, when she was in deep sleep, Lalmohan attacked her with a knife. When she screamed, some neighbours woke up and the accused fled the spot fearing detention. The villagers later rushed the woman to the hospital in an ambulance.

However, no police official was available to comment on the matter.
