Rourkela: A villager of Marichidihi under Mahulapada police limits in Sundargarh district of Odisha was allegedly crushed to death with stone over past enmity yesterday.
The victim has been identified as Tola Nayak of Marichidihi near Bonai, police said.
According to police, Tola Nayak and Babulu Giri of Marichidihi went to a small forest near the village yesterday evening.
Babulu attacked Tola and crushed his head with a stone inside the forest over past enmity. He hanged the body from a tree to give a suicide angle to the incident and returned home, police said.
Later, the accused informed the villagers that Tola was found hanging inside the forest, police added.
Suspecting some foul play, the villagers informed the incident to police.
“We have detained the accused and launched a probe into the incident,” police said.
