Odisha man dies minutes after getting COVID test result

Dhenkanal: A man reportedly breathed his last minutes after getting the news of testing positive for COVID-19 at Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital yesterday.

The deceased, identified as Sushant Kumar Prusty of Angul, was brought to the hospital yesterday morning by his wife and brother-in-law for COVID-19 test as he had developed flu-like symptoms.

Prusty was unattended at the hospital for several hours, his family members alleged. Later, he tested positive for COVID-19 in the antigen test.

On knowing that that he has tested positive for the virus, the man collapsed at the hospital, the Chief District Medical Officer CDMO) said. A doctor wearing PPE kit examined him and declared him dead.

A heart-wrenching video of the deceased’s wife administering CPR to him in an attempt to revive her husband in front of the Fever & Flu Clinic of the hospital has surfaced on social media and gone viral.
