Odisha man gets 20-year jail term for raping minor
Nayagarh: A fast-track POCSO court here today awarded 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to one Jitendra Maharana for raping a minor girl in Fategarh police station area of the district back in 2019.
The court also directed the District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) to provide financial aid of Rs 1.5 lakh to the survivor’s family.

In April, 2019, Jitendra took the minor girl to an isolated place on pretext of giving her a lift to her house in his vehicle and later raped her. Few villagers had later rescued the girl and admitted her to a hospital in critical condition.
Besides, the locals had detained and thrashed the culprit for his crime before handing him over to police.
