Odisha: Man gets lifer in Congress leader Uma Bisoi murder case

Bhubaneswar: The Sessions Judge at Aska in Odisha’s Ganjam district today awarded life imprisonment to a man in connection with the sensational murder of Congress leader Uma Bisoi in 2002.

The convict has been identified as Surya Polei. However, four other accused in the case were acquitted by the court, sources said.

Bisoi’s body was recovered from a canal after he was abducted from his home in Aska area of Ganjam by some miscreants on July 26, 2002.

Bisoi was a former chairman of Aska Panchayat Samiti and he had also unsuccessfully contested the Assembly election in Odisha once on a Congress ticket, sources added.
