Odisha man hacked to death by brother over property dispute

Balasore: A man was allegedly hacked to death by his younger brother in Gilajodi village under Singla police limits of Balasore district today evening.

A police official said the deceased, identified as Rabindra Rout engaged in an argument with younger brother Surya Rout over a family quarrel. The situation turned ugly when Surya attacked Rabindra with a sharp weapon killing the latter on the spot.

After murdering the elder brother, the accused threw the body into bushes in the backyard of his house. In the meantime, some villagers saw Surya hiding the body of his elder brother and informed police. The locals then caught hold of Surya while he was trying to escape.

Later local police officials reached the spot and seized the body. Also, they detained the accused and questioned him about the matter.

A villager said the two brothers used to fight occasionally over property.
