Odisha man held for possessing brown sugar

Balasore: The Special Task Force of Odisha Crime Branch today arrested a man on charges of possessing brown sugar in Jhadeswarpur area of Balasore district. Also, they seized Rs 1.47 lakh cash and other incriminating materials from his possession.

Acting on basis of a reliable information, the sleuths raided a place in Jhadeswarpur on the night of January 4. They seized 35 grams of brown sugar from the possession of the man, Kadar Mohammad alias Lal Babu.

As the accused could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband material, he was arrested today, the Crime Branch said in a statement.

He will be forwarded to the court of District and Sessions Judge, Balasore on tomorrow.

The STF has registered a case under the section of 21(b) NDPS Act, 1985. Investigation into the case is in progress.
