Bhubaneswar: A man and his nephew drowned in a well in Jatni area of Odisha’s Khurda district today.

The incident took place at Godadharmasagar under Ward no. 12 of Jatni municipality.

The deceased have been identified as Dulla Nayak and his 19-year-old nephew (elder brother’s son).

The boy accidentally fell into the well while lifting water from it in the evening. Soon, Dulla jumped into the well to save his nephew. However, the uncle-nephew duo could not come out of the well.

On being informed, Fire Brigade personnel rescued Dulla and his nephew and rushed them to Jatni Community Health Centre (CHC). However, they were declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The police have seized the bodies and sent them to Khurda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for postmortem.
