Odisha: Man killed by fellow villager over past enmity

Angul: A man was allegedly killed by a fellow villager over previous enmity at Durgapur under Jarpada police limits in Angul district late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Sagar Pradhan of Durgapur village.

Source said Sagar was sleeping at a Mandap in the village after returning from Jhamu Jatra. While he was in deep sleep, one Govind allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon killing him on the spot. The accused later absconded. Early this morning, locals found Sagar in a pool of blood at the Mandap and called up the police.

A police team reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

After preliminary investigation, police suspected that the two were into a dispute over property since long. Finding him alone sleeping at the Mandap last night, vindictive Govind killed him. Search is on to nab the accused, said police.
