Odisha man killed by relative over land dispute; accused surrenders at police station

Bhubaneswar: A 47-year-old man was reportedly killed by one of his relatives over land dispute in Nabarangpur district of Odisha today.

The deceased has been identified as Ghana Bhatara of Mangiaguda village under Kosagumuda police limits in Nabarangpur, sources said.

The incident took place while Ghana was working on his paddy field in the morning.

Raghu Bhatara, one of Ghana’s relatives, attacked him with a hoe over land dispute. Ghana died on the spot as Raghu hit his head repeatedly with the hoe, said a villager.

Soon after the incident, Raghu walked into Kosagumuda police station and confessed that he had killed Ghana.

The police have launched a probe into the incident by registering a case in this regard.
