Odisha man kills pregnant daughter; arrested

Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly killed his five-month pregnant daughter in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha recently.

The accused is a resident of Patharkhani village under Kaptipada police limits in Mayurbhanj, sources said.

The accused had married off his daughter some years ago. However, the woman along with her three-year-old daughter had returned to her native place after the death of her husband around a year ago, villagers said.

The woman was reportedly found five-month pregnant on Friday. Suspecting the woman’s character, the accused kicked her abdomen repeatedly. He also hit the victim with a wooden plank several times. The victim sustained grievous injuries in the incident and died, villagers added.

On being informed, police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. They also nabbed the accused after registering a case in this regard.
