Malkangiri: Tension prevailed after a irate villagers mercilessly thrashed a man to death and and hung him upside down from a tree after he allegedly attacked a woman in Malkangiri district of Odisha here today. The man, identified as Deba Madkami of Korukonda area, had reportedly attacked a woman in his neighbourhood with a sharp weapon  after which she became critical. Though the reason behind the attack is not ascertained yet, irate family members of the woman took law into their own hands and retaliated by lynching Deba and then going on to hang his body upside down from a tree

After getting information, Malkangiri police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. Sources said the woman is currently critical and undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kalimela. Four persons have been arrested in this connection, till reports last came in.
