Odisha: Man robbed of Rs 6.50 lakh while returning from bank

Rourkela: In a daring broad daylight heist, unidentified miscreants looted over Rs 6 lakh from the staff of a consulting company in Uditnagar area here today.

Reportedly, one Ranjan withdrew Rs 6.50 lakh cash from State Bank of India (SBI), Udignagar branch and was later riding pillion on a motorcycle at around 12.30 PM. Suddenly, two miscreants came on a speeding motorcycle and intercepted them in front of the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) office and snatched a bag containing the cash from Ranjan and fled. Though Ranjan and his friend chased the looters, they failed to nab them.

On receiving information,  Uditnagar police reached the spot and began an inquiry into the incident. The cops are also examining the CCTV footage of the bank.

Meanwhile, the police have detained a few suspects and are interrogating them in this connection.
