Odisha: Man shoots dead youth who misbehaved with his daughter 6 months ago

Berhampur: In what could be termed as an act of revenge, a man allegedly shot dead a youth who had misbehaved with his daughter six months ago. The incident took place at Rampudi village in Polasara area of Odisha’s Ganjam district, yesterday.

According to reports, deceased Kartik Sabar (40) had misbehaved with the daughter of one Ladu Sabar of the village, six months ago. A dispute was also prevailing over the matter while Kartik had absconded following the incident.

Last evening, Ladu hid behind the house of Kartik and fired at the latter with a gun. The victim sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot.

On being informed, Purushottampur police reached the village, recovered the body, detained Ladu for questioning and started an investigation into the matter.

On the basis of an FIR lodged by the deceased’s wife, police have registered a murder case. The weapon of offence has been seized from the possession of Ladu while further probe was underway.
