Odisha: Man slits 3-year-old daughter’s throat following family feud on State Capital outskirts

Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly slit the throat of his three-year-old daughter in a fit of rage after he had an altercation with his wife in Balakati village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, today.

The accused man was identified as Ganesh Singh and his wife as Pana Singh. They eke out their living by working as daily wagers at a brick kiln in Satakania locality of Balakati.

According to a police source, the couple indulged in a scuffle over an issue that has not been known yet. Ganesh and Pana lost control of themselves. Things took an ugly turn when Ganesh cut the baby’s throat with the help of a blade. The girl sustained grievous injuries on her neck in the incident.

Some locals rescued the injured baby girl from a pool of blood in critical condition and rushed her to the community health centre (CHC) in Balakati for treatment. Later, she was shifted to Capital Hospital in Unit-VI of Bhubaneswar and again to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack after her condition deteriorated.

The baby girl is not out of danger, a doctor treating her at SCBMCH said.
