Odisha man slits mother’s throat, stashes body in sack

Bargarh: In a heart-wrenching incident, a man allegedly killed his 60-year-old mother by slitting her throat over suspected family feud at Kumbhari village under Barpali Police limits in Bargarh district today.

However, police have arrested the accused and are interrogating him in this connection.

Sources said the elderly widow Kaushalya Sahu was staying with his son Bidyadhar (32) at Bandhapada in the village. Though the accused is married, his wife stays separately at her parents’ house.

At around 12 noon today, a verbal duel ensued between the mother-son duo over some issues. In a fit of  rage, Bidyadhar attacked his mother with a blade. She slit her throat repeatedly with the blade. When she screamed, the accused bundled her into a sack and threw the blade.

On receiving information, a police team reached the spot and arrested the accused. Besides, the cops sent the body for post-mortem while initiating an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, locals claimed that the accused is mentally unstable.

The incident has sent shock waves across the district.
