Balangir: As strange as it may sound, a man in Odisha's Balangir district has received an electricity bill of Rs 10,000 without having any electricity connection to his house.

According to reports, Ramesh Badhia of Upajhara village under Deogaon block of the district has been constructing a house for him under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana while the work was yet to be completed.

Three years ago, authorities had visited his house for providing electricity connection under the Saubhagya scheme. However, he was yet to get electricity service.

Shockingly, Ramesh alleged that he received an electricity bill of around Rs 10,000 in December of 2022 despite having no connection of electricity.

Though he approached Tusura Electricity Department SDO Sanjeev Padhi over the matter, the issue hasn't been resolved.

"Necessary action will be taken after filing of written complaint in this regard," the official said.
