Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda was produced on Wednesday in the Additional District Judge  (ADJ) II court. Amid tight police security, Sabyasachi was taken from the jail to court. The statement of the then ASI of Badabazaar police station, T. Ranga Babu who was present during the arrested Sabyasachi Panda was also taken in court.

Interestingly, the written statement of Ranga Babu in 2014 did not match his present statement given in court, yesterday.

The 48-year-old founder leader of Odisha Maobadi Party (OMP) is currently lodged in Berhampur circle jail.

Notably, Panda was arrested from a person’s house in busy Badabazar area of Berhampur in 2014.  According to police records, over 100 cases, including half a dozen high profile attacks, were registered against him since 1999.

A petition has been filed in the court for a list of items recovered during the arrest of Sabyasachi Panda.

Similarly, no witnesses appeared in ST-34/15, in this case leader of Daman Pratirodha Manch, Dandapani Mohanty was produced in court.

Meanwhile, the Nayagarh District Judge on February 2 had quashed sedition charges against Odisha Maobadi Party (OMP) chief Sabyasachi Panda in two cases out of nine cases.
