Odisha: Maoist posters ask Tribals not to part with their land

Bhubaneswar: The Maoists have reportedly asked the tribals of Raighar area of Nabarangpur district in Odisha not to hand over their landed properties to Bengali people for agriculture and other purposes.

Several posters containing the warning of the Maoists surfaced in Haladi, Hatigaon, Kurabeda, Nakatisamada, Mundibeda, Gona and Kundei area of Raighar today.

In the posters, the Maoists claimed that the Indian government had rehabilitated several Bengali people in Raighar area by providing them land deeds. However, the government is yet to provide land deeds to the tribal people, alleged the Maoists.

“The tribals should not hand over their landed properties to Bengali people for agriculture and other purposes,” said the posters.

Certain legislations have been passed in 2006 to provide land deeds to tribal people residing near the forests. However, many tribal people have not been provided the land deeds yet, alleged the Maoist posters.

The Maoists have also asked the Bengali people to return landed properties of the tribals at the earliest.
