Odisha: Maoists barge into school, attempt to extort money from Headmaster

Sundergarh: In yet another attempt to make their presence felt in Odisha, two Maoists allegedly barged into Tarkera High School under Rajgangpur police limits in Sundergarh district yesterday and attempted to extort Rs 2 lakh from its Headmaster by brandishing gun.

At around 2.30 yesterday, the Maoists also threatened Headmaster Loknath Pradhan to kill him if he fails to give the money in next five days. After that, the duo fled from the spot.

Since the two were speaking in Hindi, Headmaster Pradhan alleged that they were Maoists and later lodged a complaint at police station.

Acting on the complaint, the police began an investigation into the incident.
