Odisha Matric Exam-2020 begins

Bhubaneswar: The annual matric examinations conducted by the Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) began today and will conclude on March 2.

As many as 5,60,905 students have been enrolled for the examinations to be held at 2888 centres across the state. Madhyama Examination and State Open School Certificate Examination will be conducted simultaneously from today.

While CCTV cameras have been installed at 1000 sensitive exam centres, 307 nodal centres with 24×7 surveillance have been set up for safekeeping of question papers. This apart, a 3-tier squad has been formed to check malpractice, sources said.

BSE has formed 44 special squads while 66 squads have been constituted at different District Education Office (DEO) levels.

To check leak of question papers on social media, the board has restricted use of mobile phones in examination centres. Teaching and non-teaching staff of examination centres, invigilators, supervisors and squad personnel have been restricted from mobile phone usage inside the examination centres.

Here’s the schedule of the examinations:

February 19: Odia.

February 22: English.

February 24: Third Language (Hindi/Sanskrit).

February 26: Mathematics.

February 28: General Science.

March 2: Social Science.

While the examinations will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on the scheduled days, an extra time of 15 minutes will be alloted to the students for Mathematics.

The answer sheets would be evaluated between March 18 and April 10 at 61 evaluation centres across the state.
