Odisha Matric student found hanging ahead of exam in Bhadrak

Dhamnagar: A Class 10 student allegedly hanged himself a day before the Matric Examination here in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.

The minor boy was found hanging inside a room of his house at Jahangir Sasan village under Dhamnagar police limits this morning. He was to appear in his English paper at the Matric Examination today.

According to reports, the deceased boy belonged to Radho village under Kaptipada Block in Mayurbhanj district. He was staying at the residence of his aunt (mother’s sister) for studies.

Though the examination pressure is suspected behind the incident, he died by suicide allegedly after receiving a ‘disturbing’ message from a girl last night.

His relatives claimed that he took the extreme step after receiving a message from a girl on his smartphone.

“I don’t think that he ended his life due to stress caused by examination. He had received a message from a girl, who had written that she is going to die. When his aunt asked about the message, he avoided and deleted the content from his phone,” said Madhabananda Mishra, uncle of the deceased boy.

As the relationship between the boy’s parents was not good, his mother had sent the boy to her sister’s home for studies, he added.

“My nephew received a message from a girl last night. When I inquired, he said that the girl had mistakenly sent the message to him. He deleted all her messages after talking to her over phone. I went to my room for sleep after keeping his room’s door half-open at night. When I woke up early in the morning found his door is closed from inside. I knocked at the door repeatedly but did not get any response. With help of family members, we broke open the door and found him hanging with my saree,” Alaka Dash, the aunt of the deceased.
