Odisha: Minati replaces Pramila as president of BJD’s women wing

Bhubaneswar: In a major reshuffle in Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD) ahead of 2019 polls, the BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik appointed Minati Behera as the president of the party’s women wing, replacing Pramila Mallick here today.

Just an hour after Minati Behera resigned from her post as the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, she was given a big charge in the ruling party.

Pramila Mallick was elevated as the Vice-President of BJD and Advisor of Biju Mahila Janata Dal.

Lopamudra Buxipatra, who quit the post as the Chairperson of Odisha State Commission for Women ahead of the completion of her 3-year term, was handed over a new charge as the Working President of the BMJD.

Besides her, BJD women leaders Shreemayee Sweta Snigdha Mishra, Sulochana Das and Gitarani Bastia were appointed as the Working President of the party’s women organisation.

Similarly, Jyoti Panigrahi and Kasturi Mohapatra were appointed as Co-advisors of the BJD’s women wing.

The party appointed Sulata Deo as the General Secretary and Elina Dash as Secretary of the BMJD.
